I’m on my period right now and I hatelove it. I hate it to the bones because it gets me into trouble and eats up my personality at least 3 days of every month. It makes me cry and rant and yell, gratouitus, it makes me react maddening sensitive, it makes me question everything, even love, and it makes me feel like super-shit and ugly and boring on top. It destroys my most beautiful panties. My confidence. My productivity. And it causes incredible pain straight from hell, physically and mentally, again and again – PMS is the reason I researched various possibilities to get rid of my uterus ca a hundred times without any humor involved. But after all I still love this little fuckhead of an crucious and empowering force of nature. I love it because knowing my cycle is magic, because bleeding regulary tells me I’m healthy and that I’m part of something bigger than balls. Periods are political. And every time I’m open about my period, it feels like a rebellious act against the patriarchy and all the shame that still is pretty visible whenever people try to hide their tampons or cups while searching for the restroom. Menstrual equity, that should include education about reproductive rights and health as well as tax-free equal access to hygiene products, is an important public matter – because many girls, women, transgender and nonbinary people who menstruate around the globe must deal with cultural stigma, social isolation and shame til today. #FreeThePeriod for them, for us, for you – be loud, be proud, share your feelings and needs. Take period problems serious, even if you personally don’t have to deal with them. They’re real – same way endometriosis is. And never again forget to ask for help. #periodproblems #periodsmatter #powertotheperiod / Unpaid Ad / wearing @stinegoyastudio
